The hose for the one attachment is hard to use and the suction when using the attachment is weak. The ball is nice but it doesn't save this from being a bad purchase.For our needs this baby is a little animal. It's a workhorse with superb suction. For those that say the canister gets full to quickly and has to be emptied more than once are either not cleaning their house but two or three times a year or extremely messy people.The canister if full of dust and dog hair which tells me the vacuum is doing its job. One of the best parts about the Dyson is that I no longer need a broom to do the bathrooms and kitchen. The Dyson takes care of it just as good if not better.
The machine comes with an attachment but it is far too small to be affective for anything so I purchased an extra attachment on Amazon for the mattress and that works much better. Obviously, my only gripe would be the price. Most of that money goes into the pretty box, clever marketing and commercials, but with a five year warranty I guess you could make the argument that justifies you paying triple what other decent vacuums would go for. My experience with customer service from Dyson is completely negative. The person I dealt with was rude, which indicates to me the company itself is not that great to work for. I usually read the lower star reviews first, in this case I didn't. If I did read some of the negative reviews I probably wouldn't have bought this vacuum. I will see after a few months how it holds up. So far after a couple weeks it's ok.It is much lighter weight and easier to handle, while still doing a very good job at vacuuming. We have a full range surfaces: hard wood, as well as short shag and dense pile carpets. It is not quite as strong as the big upright, but given the Dyson's advantage of lighter weight and ease of handling, we will be using this a lot more than its steroid big brother. It is easy to take apart to clean and detangle the beater bars. Instructions are totally pictorial, which is, for the most part, ok. The only negative is that it does not let you know how hard you have to push the reset button after you clean the beater bars (we ended up using a pen rather than our fingers). A good purchase.
